About the role
InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town is looking for a Steward to help keep kitchen and food-and-beverage areas clean, organised and properly maintained while following operational, health, safety and hygiene standards.
Key responsibilities
• Keep food and beverage equipment clean and in good working condition.
• Check cleaning chemicals and related stock levels.
• Set up stations and store crockery and hollowware correctly.
• Record and properly dispose of broken items.
• Complete end-of-day dishwasher maintenance.
• Clean soiled equipment and work areas.
• Remove rubbish and waste.
• Clean, sanitise and close workstations.
• Follow F&B standard operating procedures.
• Comply with health, safety, hygiene and environmental requirements.
• Use and store equipment safely according to specifications.
• Report or resolve issues that do not meet required standards.
• Welcome guests warmly and provide professional service.
• Assist customers with information about facilities, products and promotions.
• Handle customer complaints, requests and suggestions, escalating where necessary.
Requirements
Education
• Grade 12.
Experience
• Exposure to a kitchen environment and facilities is advantageous.
Work conditions
• Ability to work shifts according to operational requirements.
• Must be physically able to move operating equipment.
• Willingness to perform similar duties in alternative outlets when operationally required.
